8. No father sould bury his son
Cutting wind and snowflake haze
Holes in soles..., will you let me stay?
I can’t move on up
And now they’re locking every door
They’re closing every window
I’ve been running through the woods at night
Invisible landscape of grey and white
I can’t move on up
But now the kids are coming home
And now they look like true men
Young man get it on but don’t walk too long
God knows no father should bury his son
As life stops kids grow
Put on my best boots, the journey’s hard
You never know how long how far
But my hometown bored me
And I’d rather get a cold
Than have my soul frozen
And by the dim shade of morning lights
Woke up stuck by the freezing bite
I couldn’t move on up
“Boy, you better take a train
And get back home again”
Young man get it on but don’t walk too long
God knows no father should bury his son
As life stops kids grow
